TBBWI – March 2024 Meeting Minutes

Record of the main Meeting held at South Weald Parish Hall at 8pm on 20th March 2024

Lucy Lewis, Bomb Disposal

The President welcomed 76 members and 5 guests to the March meeting. Housekeeping
notices were given, and the record of the previous meeting were taken as read and signed.

The President then introduced our guest for the evening, Lucy Lewis, the first female bomb
disposal officer in the army. Lucy gave a very informative and entertaining talk and there was
much laughter at her anecdotes especially regarding the advice she’d been given about how
to dress for a regimental dinner.

The challenge cup was to create a design on a postcard to represent the first signs of spring.
We were all suitably impressed with Helen’s chocolate postcard that deservedly won first
prize.

Lucy judged the entries as follows:
1 st Place – Helen B. – 4 points, 2nd Gemma C. – 3 points and 3rd -Jean S. 2 points. All other
entrants were awarded 1 point each.

Advance notice was given of next month’s AGM and pudding club. A notice was given about
the next trip which is to Highgate Cemetery.

The President then closed the meeting and Lucy signed copies of her book for members to
purchase.

The meeting officially closed at 9.30pm
